Abstract
The International Institute of Tropical Forestry (IITF) continued to advance tropical forestry research, conservation, and stewardship throughout Fiscal Year 2024. Through the coordinated efforts of its three major programmatic units—Research and Development; State, Private and Tribal Forestry; and International Cooperation—the Institute strengthened its role as a hub for science, partnerships, technical assistance, and capacity building across Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and beyond. The accomplishments highlighted in this report reflect IITF’s commitment to supporting resilient tropical ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. From developing innovative tools for land managers and strengthening community preparedness, to supporting post-disaster recovery, expanding assistance to local partners, and fostering international collaboration, IITF continues to connect scientific knowledge with practical action. These achievements demonstrate the Institute’s enduring dedication to healthy landscapes, biodiversity conservation, sustainable practices, and the mission of the Forest Service.
