Restoring an open forest ecosystem in the context of public expectations: Social science research supporting the Lakewood Southeast Project

The Rooted in Research webinar series brings experts together to discuss the latest science with a direct land management application. The Lakewood Southeast Project is a landscape-scale effort to restore pine barrens communities on a 15,000-ha area of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. When concerns were raised by nearby landowners about restoration activities, land managers engaged NRS social scientists to help understand and address the issues.
