“Wild Cards”—or low-probability, high-impact events—have shaped natural resources management in ways that are often underestimated. In the first webinar of this series, Northern Research Station researcher David Bengston will cover the three types of wild cards affecting natural resources planning and share strategies for anticipating them. Stephen Handler, with the USDA Northern Forests Climate Hub and Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science, will then share actionable steps for anticipating climate change ‘wild cards’ through climate adaptation planning.
