Facilitating community resilience through citizen science: conditions supporting plant and mushroom harvesting in southeast Alaska
The Facilitating Community Resilience Through Citizen Science project gathered community members from southeast Alaska communities in 2022 and 2023 to learn from harvesters about what they harvest from the forest, the conditions they look for when choosing a harvest site, and the significance of these plants and mushrooms. Alaskan Youth Stewards also collected data to describe forest conditions associated with the most commonly harvested plants as part of the project.
