PNW SciCast Webinar: Adaptation Resources for Agriculture - Responding to Changes in Climate in Alaska

Webinar Date
Thursday, 10/27/2022, 1 – 2pm PDT

Alaska is at the forefront of climate change. With increases in temperatures, agriculture in Alaska could see more opportunities for production. Climate change will also bring challenges, however, such as increased risk of invasive species, pests, and diseases. In this webinar, Holly Prendeville—a coordinator of the USDA Northwest Climate Hub and the Western Wildland Environmental Threat Assessment Center—and Dennis Mulligan, state resource soil scientist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Alaska—discussed Alaska’s climate, soils, and agriculture to frame a discussion of adaptation options for producers in the state to help them achieve production goals in the face of rapidly changing and variable climate conditions. The webinar, which highlighted their new publication, was followed by a Q&A session.
