PNW SciCast Webinar: Documenting and Modeling Wet and Dry Headwater Streams in Western Oregon

Knowing which streams are wet and dry is a perennial problem in the PNW. The U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Geological Survey, Bureau of Land Management and partners have released a field data collection application (FLOwPER user guide—For collection of FLOw PERmanence field observations (usgs.gov)) and, more recently, a regional prediction model titled Western Oregon Wet Dry (WOWTDR experience - Overview (arcgis.com)). This webinar—presented by Jonathan Burnett and Sherri Johnson of the Pacific Northwest Research Station, Brian Staab of the Pacific Northwest Region, and Mike Brown of the Bureau of Land Management (Washington and Oregon)—will provide a brief background on streamflow permanence and its influence on forest planning and management, discuss the value of collecting streamflow observations with FLOwPER, and present the results of the WOWTDR model.
