PNW SciCast Webinar: Science guides forest reforestation under rapidly changing conditions: The Experimental Network for Assisted Migration and Establishment Silviculture (ENAMES)

In the face of a changing climate, increasing fire severity and extent, and increasing forest health threats, Research Forester Robert Slesak and Research Geneticist Jessica Wright are working with a team of scientists, geneticists, and silviculturists to evaluate reforestation strategies across the Pacific West This project establishes an experimental network of sites to determine which species and genotypes are best suited for future climates, in combination with a series of silvicultural practices designed to increase establishment success and long-term forest resilience. This webinar will introduce concepts related to assisted migration and stand establishment, provide an overview of ENAMES and its objectives, and discuss approaches used to ensure that these findings are useful in making operational management decisions.
