Reneke Creek

Reneke Creek Research Natural Area (RNA) was established to represent perennial streams with red alder (Alnus rubra) riparian communities. The entire watershed of Reneke Creek lies within the RNA’s boundaries. The stream and its tributaries flow through steep, dissected hills that are covered by a mix of mature forest vegetation.  The RNA lies within the Sitka Spruce Zone and the dominant forest plant association is Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis)/Salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis). There are also scattered communities of Sitka spruce/swordfern (Polystichum munitum).
