Oregon Postfire Research and Monitoring Playbook: Guidance for Postfire Collaboration between Agencies, Tribes, and Universities

Abstract

The Postfire Research and Monitoring Playbook seeks to increase awareness among those conducting postfire research and monitoring in Oregon. This will facilitate efficient investment of resources and promote leveraging or direct collaboration among various organizations responsible for fire prevention, mitigation, restoration, research, and monitoring. The collaborative postfire research and monitoring project focuses on Oregon and the fires experienced in 2020, but it will create a resource to be utilized for postfire recovery after future fires in the state.

The goal of this playbook is to promote collaboration among institutions and agencies involved in postfire research and monitoring by identifying what work is being done by whom. This resource aims to provide guidance for collaboration by (1) identifying contacts at each organization doing postfire research and monitoring work, (2) outlining the current postfire research and monitoring capacity of each organization, and (3) identifying the resources each organization has that could be leveraged by other groups.
