Toward Tomorrow's Forests Together: Compiled abstracts of the 2024 Forest Inventory and Analysis Science Symposium

Abstract

Compiler: Megan Keville

The 16th biennial Forest Inventory and Analysis Science Symposium (FIA 2024, formerly known as the Forest Inventory and Analysis Science Stakeholder Meeting), hosted by the Pacific Northwest Research Station's FIA program, was held virtually November 19-21, 2024. Topics were based on the theme “Toward Tomorrows Forests Together" and topics included collaborative inventory, multi-dimensional forest stewardship, and big data solutions for inventory challenges. A sector-spanning group of over 700 scientists, partners, technicians, practitioners, educators, managers, and policymakers came together to connect and exchange knowledge.

The three-day Symposium was curated to deliver 233 presentations (including 9 keynotes, 3 digital demonstrations, 10 facilitated engagement/networking opportunities, and 33 organized sessions). The event is recapped in this program complete with a detailed agenda, keynote speaker profiles, session abstracts, poster summaries, a list of papers included in a special issue of Forest Ecology & Management, and links to session video recordings.
