Climate change in the Northern Great Plains: 5 Key Messages from the 5th National Climate Assessment.

Climate change is impacting the Northern Great Plains (Montana, Nebraska, Wyoming, and North and South Dakota) through severe droughts and increases in precipitation variability, floods, and wildfires. These impacts threaten human and ecological health as well as the natural-resource livelihoods of the Northern Great Plains. Therefore, we need to navigate trade-offs and tensions of land use, water availability, and ecosystem services within the region and seek solutions for our communities to adjust to and plan for these impacts.
