FFACCTS Webinar: Empowering Forest Landowners and USDA Programs - Progress on the Revised USDA GHG Entity-Scale Accounting Guidelines

Webinar Date
Friday, 5/5/2023, 11am – 12pm MDT

This presentation serves as follow-on to a FFACCTS presentation delivered in May last year on the updated Forest Management chapter in the USDA Entity Guidelines for Greenhouse Gas Fluxes in Forestry and Agriculture. These guidelines are intended to support USDA and farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners in estimating greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes on forests and agricultural lands. Since the presentation one year ago, a number of policy developments as well as growing demand from the public and private sectors have continued to underline the need for accessible guidance and research investments to empower entity-scale GHG accounting on forested lands. This presentation will offer insights on the policy context and needs, as well as more specifics on the GHG accounting advancements and approaches included in the forthcoming updated Forest Management chapter within the 2023 USDA Entity Guidelines for Greenhouse Gas Fluxes in Forestry and Agriculture anticipated to be submitted to the Federal Register this spring.
