Umpqua National Forest CharBoss Demonstration
The USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station and the Umpqua National Forest are excited to announce a CharBoss Demonstration near Glide, Oregon. The CharBoss is an in-woods biochar production unit that was developed under a USDA Cooperative Research and Development Agreement in partnership with Forest Service Research & Development and State & Private Forestry, and Air Burners, Inc.
The location is roughly 30 min from the North Umpqua Ranger Station. Please arrive early for parking and walking a short distance to the site. Drive slow and with caution on the forest service roads. Please carpool if possible. The North Umpqua Ranger Station is a good carpool location.
- This event is dependent on the weather. If we need to cancel we will send out a notification right away.
- If you would like to take home a biochar sample from the demonstration, bring a suitable container!
- Hard hats are required (there will be hard hats available for those that don’t have one.
- The nearest restroom is at the Susan creek day use area off HWY 138.
Directions
- From Glide Oregon, travel east on HWY 138 for 12.5 miles.
- Turn left on Boundary road . Follow Boundary road (stay right) for 2 miles.
- Turn left at on the 4710 (Swamp creek) road.
- From there, follow signs to demo location.
