Building a community of women’s hunting and fishing group leaders to strengthen women’s participation in outdoor recreation

This project was created by the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute and the Zavaleta Cheek lab at South Dakota State University, and directed and produced by Destroy Collective and Society for Wilderness Stewardship.

A collaboration led by the Zavaleta Cheek lab at South Dakota State University and the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute has been looking into ways to more effectively train, support, and retain women as active participants in hunting and fishing across the Rocky Mountain region. This video shares more about the project approach using a community of practice with women’s hunting and fishing group leaders to elevate the role of women in hunting and fishing and empower women in the outdoors.
