Estimating forest characteristics such as carbon and tree growth over space and time using TreeMap, FIADB, and FVS
TreeMap, Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) data, and the Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) form an “analysis ecosystem” where users can estimate detailed forest characteristics over space and time. This webinar will show examples of how these tools can be used together to estimate carbon emitted from wildfire or determine which trees could be logged during a thinning project. We will also showcase:
- A new visualization tool for TreeMap where users can see CONUS-wide maps of ~20 attributes including forest type and live and dead tree carbon
- A new data download tool
- A new Google Earth Engine catalog
