Abstract

We present a brief synopsis of the beginnings of watershed management research and practice in the Lake States and Northeastern United States, followed by a summary of significant research findings on many aspects of watershed management, and finally, a review of four examples of how watershed management research has been incorporated into national forest management plans, state best management practices, state river basin projects, and the large, multi state Chesapeake Bay Program.
