Abstract

During the spring of 2007, a low thinning was implemented in stands on the Hoosier National Forest that had been clearcut harvested between 1975 and 1979; treatments consisted of 60- and 75-percent residual stocking, as well as control plots with no thinning. The 60-percent treatment increased the relative oak density per acre in all stands with the exception of one stand that contained no oak component prior to thinning.
