Abstract
Agritourism research has been approached from both the tourism and sociology disciplines. Both have focused on understanding the complex set of goals--including those economic and intrinsic in nature--that drive entrepreneurial development. This study examined differences between agritourism farmers and other farm entrepreneurs to consider whether both the tourism and sociology disciplinary approaches should continue independently or be integrated. Differences between agritourism and non-agritourism farm entrepreneurs related to the goals driving entrepreneurial development, farm household arrangements, and business structures suggest that it is necessary to continue both disciplinary approaches.
