Abstract

This paper discusses community and economic benefits associated with two recreational bicycle special events held on the Pere Marquette Rail-Trail (PMRT) in Midland County Michigan during the summer of 1999. One event was an annual ride to fundraise for the Rails to Trails Conservancy of Michigan. Approximately 1,800 participants rode in the event which included two days of riding on the Pere Marquette Rail-Trail.
