Nitric Acid Promotes Pine Seed Germination

Abstract

Germination of a number of recalcitrant seed lots of loblolly, slash and longleaf pine was improved markedly following treatment with 0.1 percent nitric acid for 4 hours or 10 percent for 10 minutes.
