Abstract

Current information about wood and bark residues lacks the consistency needed to enable complete understanding and comparison from source to source. To make information about wood and bark residues more useful for production and marketing decisions, the Forest Products Marketing Laboratory of the USDA Forest Service and the Tennessee Valley Authority prepared this glossary of terms and standards for measuring wood and bark mill residues. The International System of Units (SI) is recommended as standard practice for workers in this field. Related conversion factors and principles for the use of SI are presented.
