Abstract

Calameuta middlekauffi, n. sp., is described from southern Oregon and California. It is the second species of Calarneuta in North America and is differentiated from C. clnvnta (Norton) by head shape and coloration. Illustrations, descriptions, and a key are given to separate the two species. The food plant is unknown, but Palearctic species of Calatneuta are known to feed in grass stems.
