Timber resource statistics of the Sacramento resource area of California.

Abstract

This report is one of five that provide timber resource statistics for 57 of the 58 counties in California (San Francisco is excluded). This report presents statistics from a 1981-84 inventory of the timber resources of Butte, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Lake, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Tehama, Yolo, and Yuba Counties. Tables presented are of forest area and of timber volume, growth, and mortality. Timberland area is an estimated 4 million acres, which is 33 percent of the Sacramento resource area. Growing stock volume is 15 billion cubic feet. The three most common species are white fir-29 percent of the volume; Douglas-fir-15 percent; and ponderosa pine-14 percent.
