Abstract

Southern pulpwood production in 1975 dropped a record 14 percent from the previous year. A 16-percent drop in roundwood accounted for over 80 percent of the total decline. Usable wood residues dropped 9 percent, primarily from hardwoods. Of the 42.3 million cords produced, 30 million were roundwood and 12 million were residues. Pulping capacity for the region increased 2 percent to 96,555 tons per day.
