Abstract

In 1988, roundwood output from South Carolina's forests amounted to 605.1 million cubic feet. Residue generated from plants in South Carolina increased to 205.9 million cubic feet and was mostly used for fiber and fuel. Pulpwood was the leading roundwood product with 283.2 million cubic feet; saw logs was next with 253.7 million cubic feet, and then veneer logs with 62.7 million cubic feet. Fewer mills had great receipts, indicating increased utilization and processing effiency.
