Abstract
Losses of newly planted coniferous seedlings from drought during the critical period when new roots are developing is a continuing problem in many parts of the West. One possible solution frequently suggested to forest managers is to coat the seedling tops with a transpiration inhibitor, usually a waxy substance applied in emulsion form. This research note gives the results of a study of one of these transpiration inhibitorsS/V Ceremul Cwhen used on ponderosa pine in the semiarid climate of central Oregon.
