1968 Oregon timber harvest.

Abstract

Oregon's 1968 timber harvest of 9.74 billion board feet was the largest since 1952, when a record 9.80 billion board feet was produced. Public agencies' harvests increased 25.0 percent in western Oregon and 4.1 percent in eastern Oregon for a total increase of 19.1 percent, 864.9 million board feet above the public harvest in 1967. National Forests had the largest production increase of 460.8 million board feet (up 14.5. percent), followed by the Bureau of Land Management's increase of 378.0 million board feet (up 34.6 percent) and by the state's increase in production of 34 million board feet (up 26.8 percent). Other Federal cut in 1968 rose to 4.7 million board feet from no recorded volume in 1967. "Indian" and "Other public" 1968 harvests declined 9.8 million board feet (9 percent) and 2.8 million board feet (19.3 percent), respectively.
