Abstract

FIRECAST is a computer program that estimates fire behavior in terms of six fire parameters. Required inputs vary depending on the outputs desired by the fire manager. Fuel model options available to users are these: Northern Forest Fire Laboratory (NFFL), National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS), and southern California brushland (SCAL). The program has been operationally tested for use in the State of California. Complete operating instructions are given along with a description of program components and a complete sample run.The original FORTRAN code is available in the Forest Service Research Data Archive.
