Abstract

The use of hardwood for pulp and paper furnish and other fiber products is steadily increasing in the U.S. Pulpwood now accounts for half of all hardwood roundwood currently harvested for industrial timber products in the Southeast. In addition to domestic consumption, hardwood exports to Europe and Asia are also expanding, and good portion of these are shipped from the South.
