Abstract

In 1995, roundwood output from South Carolina’s forests totaled 622 million cubic feet, 5 percent less than in 1994. Mill byproducts generated from primary manufacturers declined 4 percent to 203 million cubic feet. Almost all plant residues were used primarily for fuel and fiber products. Pulpwood was the leading roundwood product at 320 million cubic feet; saw logs ranked second at 247 million cubic feet; veneer logs were third at 50 million cubic feet. The number of primary processing plants declined from 105 in 1994 to 99 in 1995. Total receipts declined 5 percent to about 619 million cubic feet.
