Abstract
Cerulean Warbler is a bird with problems; this migratorybird lives in environments on which large numbersof people depend for an adequate productivelivelihood, energy, high quality wood products, coffee,and cacao. Solving the biological problems of thisspecies in its complex environments poses a difficultchallenge. The Cerulean Warbler Technical Group wasformed in 2001 to provide a forum to share informationabout this bird, and to identify and test solutions to theproblems it faces. Members of this successful effortare dedicated to developing and sharing informationin a spirit of mutual respect, open communicationand trust. In October 2008 we visited Bogota andSan Vicente de Chucuri to meet with those colleaguesthat can better understand the conditions on thenon-breeding grounds, seeking to forge partnershipsbetween actors from the North American breedinggrounds and actors from South and Central America;addressing the problems faced by the birds in sociallyresponsible, and economically productive ways. Wewere joined by colleagues with similar aspirations forcollaborative solutions to the problems of anothermigratory bird, the Golden-winged Warbler.
