Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify and measure the empirical relationships between a festival and one of its possible social effects: residents' perceptions of a sense of community (SOC). A mixed research method was utilized to explore how a multicultural festival in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania affected residents' perceived SOC. Survey questionnaires were collected from 154 local residents and analyzed using Factor Analysis, Multivariate Analysis of Variance, post-hoc analyses, and content analysis.
