GIS tools, courses, and learning pathways offered by The National Interagency Fuels, Fire, and Vegetation Technology Transfer (NIFTT)

Abstract

As technology continues to evolve in the area of fuel and wildland fire management so does the need to have effective tools and training on these technologies. The National Interagency Fuels Coordination Group has chartered a team of professionals to coordinate, develop, and transfer consistent, efficient, science-based fuel and fire ecology assessment GIS tools and online trainings. The team is called the National Interagency Fuels, Fire, and Vegetation Technology Transfer (NIFTT). NIFTT is currently focusing on the technology development and transfer components of the National LANDFIRE Project (see www.landfire.gov), updating LANDFIRE data from circa 2000 to current status, and providing application tools and online training.
