Abstract
Although the growth and yield figures cited in this paper are sketchy and far from complete, they indicate that management in bottomland hardwoods has a promising future. The data presented are based or stands grown without management. If management in bottomland hardwoods results 'in greatly increasing yields and incomes, and in reducing costs, as it has in pine, the future of our bottomland hardwoods and of the bottomland hardwood industry in the South is secure. Detailed facts and much of the "know how" of management remain to be determined .
