Abstract

A sampling technique for estimating fishing use was pilot tested on a small trout stream on the Santee Ranger District, Francis Marion National Forest in South Carolina during fall and winter 1969-70. A short questionnaire, completed by fishermen using the stream, provided information relating to the variables of interest. Reliable estimates of fishing use were obtained at low cost.
