Abstract

On January 19, 2011, an unusual weather event occurred. The National Weather Service Web site (http://www.crh.noaa. gov/news/display_cmsstory.php?wfo¼ddc&storyid¼62980& source¼0) described the event in the following way: “the atmosphere was cold and moist with low clouds and fog preceding the formation of the snow.
