Managing the family forest in the south

Abstract

Many of our forefathers came to this country because it offered an opportunity to own land. This desire is still inherent in many farmers and other private individuals who own 67 percent of the 182,164,000 acres of commercial forest land in the South. The practice of forestry on these holdings offers individuals some­ thing that can be both financially and spiritually rewarding and, at the same time, contribute to the local and national economies.
