Longleaf Pine Seed Quality and Preparation For Sowing

Abstract

The ability to run a highly efficient container nursery is heavily dependent on having excellent seed quality. Longleaf (Pines palustris Mill.) seed quality, although frequently poor, can just as easily be high if care is taken to meet the biological requirements of this species at all steps from seed collection through preparation of seeds for sowing. The necessary actions to take at each step in the seed handling process are described.
