Abstract

North Carolina was the Southeast's leading producer of veneer logs in 1963 with 140 million board feet--29 percent of the more than 484 million board-feet total. Georgia ranked second, with 129 million board feet, and was followed by Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia, respectively (table 1). This information was obtained from a canvass of veneer mills that drew wood from the Southeast in 1963. Veneerlog receipts were reported by state of origin. An undetermined volume of logs cut in the region and ex- ported outside the United States is not included.
