Abstract

Since 1954, when the huge study of geographic ource of outhern pine eed got underway, planta­tions scattered throughout the South have been te ting theses con­cerning the po ibility of racial variation in outhern pines caused by temperature zone, latitude, and longitude.1 Now, after 6 years, a plantation of longleaf pine in Nansemond County, Virginia, e -tablished to see if racial variation is primarily associated with differ­ence in temperature, has some in­teresting data to report
