Abstract
Between 60 and 74 percent of the variation in site index within three soil series on the lower South Carolina coastal plain was related to soil chemical and physical properties in the Al and B2 horizons. Results indicate that nutrient properties or factors controlling availability of nutrients should be considered in evaluating and classifying growth potential of pine sites.
