Abstract

Tomorrow the Nation's need for timber will be strikingly greater than today or at any time in the past. We have the potential to meet that need if we fully apply our forestry knowledge and skills promptly, with vigor and determination.That, in brief, is the essence of our findings in this comprehensive appraisal of the timber situation in the United States. The appriasal was started by the Forest Service in 1952, released in preliminary form in 1955, and now has been revised for final release.
