Abstract

Inventory data in this report are the result of the first comprehensive survey of Utah's timber resource. The survey was conducted as part of the continuing nationwide Forest Survey. Fieldwork started in 1956 and was completed in 1961. The Intermountain Region of the U. S. Forest Service inventoried National Forest lands, and the Intermountain Forest and Range Experiment Station inventoried lands outside National Forests. The Intermountain Station combined the two sets of data into the Statewide compilation on which this report is based. Statistics on timber cut and timber products output for 1962 were collected in 1963 by the Intermountain Station.
