Abstract

Old-growth spruce-fir stands on the Fraser Experimental Forest, Colorado, were found to be irregularly uneven-aged. Although subalpine fir trees were most numerous, most of the basal area was Engelmann spruce. Alternatives to current cutting methods are suggested for stands with similar structures.
