Abstract

Dropped from RNA consideration, the site was designated a Special Interest Area by the Klamath National Forest. It is in Siskiyou County approximately 15 miles (24 km) NW. of Happy Camp. It lies less than 0.5 miles (0.8 km) S. of the Oregon border. The area occupies portions of sections 32 and 33 T19N, R6E and sects. 4 and 5 T18N, R6E HBM (41°59'N., 123°31'W.), USGS Polar Bear Mtn. quad. Ecological subsection – Lower Salmon Mountains (M261Af) and Red Butte (M261An).
