Abstract
The 22nd Biennial Southern Silvicultural Research Conference (BSSRC) was held March 21–23, 2023, at the Fredonia Hotel in Nacogdoches, TX. This conference is the latest in a series of meetings designed to provide a forum for the exchange of research information among silviculturists, researchers, and managers. Presentations emphasized research in artificial and natural hardwood regeneration, fire, intermediate management and stand development, forest measurements and modeling, longleaf pine, shortleaf pine, loblolly pine, and vegetation management. In addition to an opening morning plenary session, six sessions including 68 oral and 46 poster presentations were offered on March 21 and 22. Additionally, a field tour was held on Thursday, March 23, and participants visited several sites in eastern Texas to observe management on the Boggy Slough Conservation Area, research at a carbon afforestation project of Stephen F. Austin State University’s Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture, and the I.E. Fairchild State Forest. In all, nearly 190 people attended the 22nd BSSRC.Titles contained within Proceedings of the 22nd Biennial Southern Silvicultural Research Conference
