Abstract

For her entire Forest Service career, Deborah (Debbie) Page-Dumroese wanted to figure out how to maximize the use of excess woody residues or low-value material (LVM) left on the landscape following a timber harvest or fuels treatment to reduce carbon dioxide release to the atmosphere and improve air quality. And as a research soil scientist with the USDA Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS), she was equally concerned about the burn scars that resulted from burning woody residues.
