Abstract

Silvopasture is a type of agroforestry system in which trees and shrubs are intentionally integrated with forages and livestock on the same unit of land. Silvopasture systems achieve multiple ecological, social, and production benefits. In addition to their value for timber and nontimber products, trees in silvopasture systems create beneficial shade for livestock during summer months and can enhance forage quality and quantity and provide other ecosystem services.
