Abstract

The 1980 Resources Planning Act Timber Assessment and Program prepared in response to provisions of the Forest and Rangeland Renewable Resources Planning Act of 1974 (as amended by the National Forest Management Act of 1976) contains regional projections of average stumpage prices that are potentially useful in national forest planning. Their usefulness can be improved if the average prices are separated by species. This separation process depends on assumptions about changes in relative importance (as measured by volume) of the various species. Further refinement of stumpage prices to the national forest level is also discussed.
