Abstract
Polymorphic site index curves for shortleaf pine at ages 25 and 50 were derived from stem analysis data collected in the Ouachita Mountain Province. Curve shape was significantly related to site quality. The polymorphic curves are preferable to standard anamorphic curves for stand ages less than 30 to 40 years, especially for site indices greater than 60. The polymorphic curves produce unbiased estimates for all ages and site qualities and they reduce estimation errors.
